Install Google Chrome on Ubuntu 12.04/ElementaryOS

chrome

I personaly use Chrome as a secondary Internet Browser. ElementaryOS comes with Midori, wich I hate. So to me second best to Firefox is Chrome. And if you want the original flavor and not Chromium. So here’s how to install it via CLI on Ubuntu 12.04 and or ElementaryOS.

1. Download the packages
Depending on your architecture download for 32-bit

$ wget https://dl.google.com/linux/direct/google-chrome-stable_current_i386.deb

Or for 64-bit systems

$ wget https://dl.google.com/linux/direct/google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb

2. Install the packages
Go to the folder were you’ve downloaded the package and type:

$ sudo dpkg -i google-chrome-package-you-downloaded-for-your-system

3. Enjoy your browser
